ACCESS Has a new Executive Director We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mary Lowe as the new ACCESS Executive Director. As you probably know, Larry McCullough, longstanding ACCESS leader, has expressed his desire to no longer hold the Executive Director position. After receiving applications from several qualified candidates, the Executive Committee conductedextensive interviews both in person and by phone conference. Mary comes to us with an extensive background in online distance education. She is currently the Director of Online Instruction at Erskine Theological Seminary. |

| She completed her Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University, cap stoning her education with a dissertation on “Accessing the Impact of Online Courses on the Spiritual Formation of Adult Students.” |

Mary took the leadership helm beginning August 16th. Mary, and her husband Dr. Stephen D. Lowe, associate dean and professor of Christian education at Erskine Theological Seminary, live in Due West, SC. She grew up in Haiti where her parents served for 26 years. She completed her undergraduate work in Christian |

| Education at John Brown University and a master’s degree in Adult Education from the University of Arkansas. Mary is now working on a Master of Arts in Education Ministry at Erskine Theological Seminary. She worked at Trinity College of the Bible as Director of Student Affairs prior to moving to South Carolina. She is an adjunct faculty member at Erskine and teaches English as a Second Language to Japanese executives. Her professional interests include spiritual formation in theological distance education, online instruction, and instructional technology. Mary’s personal hobbies include travel, reading, and roasting coffee. Some of the responsibilities Mary will be assuming were described in the job description as follows: 1. Develop, maintain, and implement an annual 3-year strategic plan for the association. (to be approved and reviewed by the Executive Committee). 2. Develop partnerships with other organizations. 3. Serve as the central contact for the association with its members and other constituencies. 4. Assist with the management of association events, particularly the annual conference. 5. Assure that effective and efficient services are provided to the members of the association. 6. Actively recruit new members. 7. Identify and pursue additional sources of revenue for the association. 8. Provide leadership in the fields of distance and accessible education. 8. Conduct research, particularly among members of the association. 9. Maintain database of members and inquiries. |
