On May 9, 2006 Governor Mark Sanford and First Lady Jenny Sanford announced the winners of the 2006 Healthy South Carolina Challenge Community Awards. Erskine Wellness was the winner of the 2006 Healthy SC Challenge Community Award for Education. The award was given by Governor Sanford and First Lady Jenny Sanford on May 18, 2006 in ceremonies at the Governor’s Mansion.

Erskine Wellness is a collaborative effort that includes Erskine College and Seminary as well as the following wellness partners:

Town of Due West

Due West Retirement Center (Covenant Way)

Dixie High School

Due West Family Medicine

ARAMARK Food Service

Abbeville County Memorial Hospital

Erskine Wellness promotes whole person development through a variety of campus and community events and programs that touch all six dimensions in the Erskine Wellness Model (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, moral, and spiritual). Erskine Wellness kicked off on September 21, 2005 with a campus and community Health Fair and the first of six Lunch-n-Learn programs. Erskine on the Move campus and community walking teams and our student-initiated JumpStart circuit training for cardio and anaerobic exercise provided some of the many opportunities for improving physical wellbeing. The Erskine Lecture Series and other campus lecture events offered campus and community participants opportunities for intellectual stimulation and social interaction.
