As a husband, father, grandfather, administrator, professor, police chaplain, and church leader I know the importance of having a clear mission whether personal or professional. The mission of the Office of Vice President of Erskine Seminary is to lead and support the staff, faculty, alumni, and students of Erskine Seminary and to facilitate in any way possible the achievement of the stated mission of the Seminary “to educate persons for service in the Christian Church.”
In 2012, Erskine Seminary will celebrate its 175th anniversary. Since 1837, Erskine Seminary has provided theological education grounded in the authority of the Scriptures and committed to the Reformed tradition. We seek to serve not only our denomination, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, but also the entire Church of Jesus Christ. We value the diversity found in God’s world and in the Body of Christ. We embrace an Evangelical perspective that invites others with our theological commitments to study and live with us. Erskine Seminary seeks to advance the mission of God in the world through our own local educational endeavors and global partnerships that advance the spread of the gospel. We provide an environment where students grow as whole persons so that their lives reflect the “fullness of Christ.” We are deeply committed to educating and equipping persons for exceptional service in the Christian Church so that they will be effective Spirit-empowered witnesses for Jesus Christ.
We are able to accomplish our mission and vision through a home campus in Due West, South Carolina that offers residency options that foster an authentic learning community. Our Columbia Campus caters to an urban population concerned about the needs of the city and the hope that only the gospel of Jesus Christ provides. Finally, our Virtual Campus reaches students around the world with our unique seminary experience that is Reformed, Evangelical, and Missional.
I am confident that your visit to our web page will create an interest in Erskine Seminary that will prompt you to visit us in person. Our faculty, staff, and administration stand ready to explore the depths of God’s Word and the beauty of God’s world with you.
“May the God of peace . . . equip us with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21
